I bought this for my 2011 MacbookPro 17" 2.2ghz and it works pretty great. Though the 2011 MacbookPros support SATAIII drives (drives which are rated @ 6Gbps), I still went with this SSD which is SATAII(drives which are rated @ 3Gbps). This is because, when I was browsing thru Apple forums, I saw reports that SATAIII drives are not working properly across the board - Its working for some and not for the others. So i thought why take risk of buying a SATAIII drive and finding out that its not working with my system? Returning it back to Amazon would mean that I would have received only 80% of the prize I paid as refund for the open item.

Reliability of an SSD can be only judged thru longer periods of usage. I am hoping Samsung had done a good job here !

I installed Samsung SSD 256G on my 2010 MacBook Pro.
Most of all, the duration to boot the OS X and Windows 7 reduced significantly.
It is super silent and generates much less heat.
Definately worth its price!!
