Rare that a product has so many winning benefits. I now own ten different SSDs (all 2010 models of various capacities and speeds) from OCZ, Kingston, Western Digital, Intel and Samsung. While this drive is rated at the theoretical maximum SATA 2 transfer rate, honestly, I can't tell the difference between their speeds in day-to-day use. They are all very fast -- much, much faster than the original notebook drives they replaced. Boot times are all 3x faster than the original drives. SSDs are fast, durable, silent, and take a bit less power. No more defragging. I just cloned a 256GB SSD and it took less than 15 minutes. Wow!

Best practice for SSDs is to do a fresh install of Windows 7. These drives offer the TRIM feature which, when used with Windows 7, will maintain their optimal speeds.

I stopped buying spinning drives when I had a hard drive crash while at a customer site. The drive was 57 days old. Take my advice. Buy an SSD for your notebook. The benefits are awesome. You won't be disappointed.

Review by Impact Marketing "At Your Service!" : Yes, It is Really That Fast! Plus Other Unintended Benefits:

I went from a 10,000 RPM main boot drive to this.

Just as a background, I'm running an AMD Athlon 64X2 3.2GHz processor that I've overclocked to 3.5GHz, plus 8GB of RAM on an AM2+ board. Windows 7 (64 bit).

Average cold boot time before I installed this drive from push button all the way to desktop was about 1 minute and 50 seconds.

At the present time, after install of this SSD, my boot time from absolutely cold to desktop is around 40 seconds, most of which is bios, and a significant part of which is my network acquiring address, etc. And shut down takes about 8 seconds, to cold shutdown.

It is just ridiculous how sick this thing is. I love it.


Some other benefits:

I run (among other things) the occasional Malwarebytes virus scan. What used to take 25 to 30+ minutes now takes about three minutes to do a complete scan of my C drive. The key here is that I have installed my anti virus onto the C drive, so it is running from the same drive I am scanning.

Searching for a document is almost instant. It takes longer to type it out than it does for the doucment to instantly materialize on the desktop.

Even the resource hungry Adobe Photoshop opens in about 3 seconds.


***Just remember if you are going to put this in your desktop to pay attention to how your drive bays are configured. I had to make an adapter so it would fit in mine, as I have a custom deal with hotswappable pins, rather than screws. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just understand this is a 2.5inch drive for laptops, and your bays on most desktops are set up for 3.5 inch full sized hard drives. But you already knew that.



I knew this would be a nice drive, but I didn't know just how nice. Definitely worth every penny. Just get it!!!

This drive was used to replace the drive that came in my 15" MacBook Pro. The difference between the old drive 5400rpm drive and this SSD was like night and day. Applications open almost instantly. Opening an application that used to take 10-15 seconds now takes a mere 3 seconds. I have been very pleased with the performance of this drive!
