Patton U2-1803-UC 18-Inch Velocity Air Circulator
Review by G. Elmore "gelmore72" : Great fan
I am a very light sleeper and I have always had to use a fan for white noise while sleeping. This fan does a great job in that role. It also works great in the garage as it moves some major air. I bought a Patton 18" high velocity air fan back in 1991 and it just died a few months ago. I have been very happy with that fan and I believe it was worth much more than the $45 I paid for it. It was used almost every day and never failed to do its job. When it finally quit, I didn't hesitate to buy another Patton fan to replace it. This is a great fan. It puts out a lot of air. The reasons I give it only 4 stars are because:
1. This motor doesn't seem to be as beefy (most likely to satisfy "Green Peace" or some other tree hugging organization by using less energy) as the old motor. It seems smaller and takes longer to get up to speed than the old fan. But hey, if I can get half the life of the old one, I'll be happy! I never expected that fan to last 20 years.
2. The speeds are not evenly spaced out. By this I mean, on the "Low" setting, it is already putting out an extreme amount of air. There is very little change when switching to "Medium." "High" really feels like it would take off and fly away if it had wheels and wings. Really there are only two settings, "Hi" and "Not So High". It would have been better to make "Low" much slower and change the "Low" setting to "Medium."
However, these are minor gripes and do not bother me much. I don't know what these other people are talking about when they say it is cheaply made or that Patton isn't a "Go To" name any longer! This fan seems as well made (except for the smaller motor) as my old one that was bought 20 years ago.
So, after using it for several months now, I say it's a great buy and would recommend it to anyone wanting a quality, very high output, shop type fan.
I hope this helps!!!

Review by Jon Jasper "CustomCadillac" : A Powerhouse fan
These are not exactly quiet, but if you wish your home had a "whole house" fan built-in, this is your next-best choice. I can place this on an open window's sill (I have to lash it to the sill, so it won't blow itself off), kick into high and you immediately feel a strong breeze everywhere in the house. I've never been sorry I bought this, some five years ago.

Review by DJ Daryl "DJ Daryl" : Horizon Entertainment purchase of Patton U2 -1803-UC 18-Inch Velocity Air Circulator
I've purchased Patton high velocity fans for decades. Until recent years, Patton was always an American made product, but now they are made overseas (probably in China) and the materials are poor in comparison to the original American made product. The fan works fine, but the variable speeds produced by the fan's motor, don't really vary very much at all. The materials the fan is made of are much lighter in comparison to the original made product.

Review by Sunday "SundayAtDusk" : A Powerful Fan for Hot, Humid Days!
This fan must have two pages, because I know I reviewed it last week; and at the time, it wasn't being offered by Amazon with free shipping. If it had been, I probably would have gotten a second one. I bought one last year from an online hardware store. It is a super powerful fan that works well on super hot, humid days. I've never felt a more powerful fan, except in places that use huge commercial type fans. It is loud, but I like loud fans. And metal fans do work better than plastic ones, in my opinion. I recently got a 14 inch Patton high velocity floor fan with a plastic CVT blade, which is no where near as powerful as this fan. It's designed better, and is safer around children and pets, but even in the highest setting, it seems to me to be less powerful than this Patton on the lowest setting.
This Patton is not as heavy, and the metal not as thick, as fans I have bought in the past like it. But that is not a bad thing; the heavier fans I had always eventually collapsed on their stands, making them unsafe around children and pets. They also only lasted 2-3 years. Hopefully, this one will last longer. Because, believe me, if you live in a a place with HOT summers, you miss these powerful metal floor fans when they die!
Bottom line--if you need fans to survive the summer, and don't mind loud ones: Go with the biggest metal floor fan--with the biggest blades and most powerful motor--that you can afford!
