Bionaire BW2100R-U Twin Window Fan with Remote Control
Review by PostDriver "PostDriver" : Good, but ....
My old Holmes twin fan finally gave up the ghost, and after reading a lot of reviews, I chose this unit as a replacement.
Shipping was fast, and the product is nice. Since I use this fan as an exhaust fan in my den while I'm smoking cigars, it gets quite a workout.
My main pains are these:
1. The noise on the highest speed isn't quiet :) . It's about as loud or maybe a touch louder than the Holmes. On the next lowest speed it's much quieter.
2. The window panels on both sides are a pain. The ones on the left (semi-fixed) don't stay on the fan well, and the sliding panel on the right can be difficult to retract. Keep in mind that I'm using the unit twice or three times a day, and removing it between uses.
3. The on-off control is not well-designed. You must cycle through all six settings to turn the fan on and off. For example, if you use the highest setting as I do, one touch of the power button turns it on; no problem. But to turn it off, you much punch the button repeatedly as it cycles through the rest of the settings (6 in all) to get back to 'off'. A separate on-off switch would have been preferable.
Other than that, this unit seems to function well.
Bionaire BW2100R-U Twin Window Fan with Remote Control
Review by Thomas A. Hettinger "Tom Hettinger" : I bought three of these and I'm satisfied
I originally ordered one fan to test it. Three days later, I ordered two more. They perform perfectly and move enough air to keep my home/office and computer room well ventilated. Another reviewer noted that the hum from the electric motor is loud enough to drown out the low fan setting. Although this is true, I've found it to be no worse than white noise... and it actually helps me get to sleep. My only issue is with the temperature controls in that, if you hit either button by mistake, it will disable the remote/manual switch for the fan speeds and you'll think that the fan doesn't work. Easy to remedy, but a slight nuisance at times. Over all, definitely worth the price.

Review by Tstorm2010 "TstormVA" : I Can Open My Window and Still Breath
I live in a townhouse and I would keep my window open in the living room so that the breeze could cool my entire home. That was until my chain smoking neighbors moved in. For over a year, I kept that window closed (I also suffer from asthma) because when I left the window open my home would smell like a bar. The last straw was in April of this year when my neighbors were smoking at 6:30 am and the smoke traveled up to my 3rd floor window. ENOUGH!
I came to work that day, logged onto Amazon and purchased the Bionaire Twin Window Fan. The fan is terrific. I installed it and the first time in year I was able to open my window. I put the fan setting on level 3 when the chain smokers are their deck and level 1 during the other times.
The complaints I've read regarding the temperature gage doesn't really apply to my situation. The delivery and the condition of the equipment was excellent. This is a good buy and I would recommend it.
