VT PenPad 7.7-Inch Graphic Pen Tablet (Black)
Review by S. M. Jackson "SistaSallySue" : Mac User's Review
Overall, I think the penpad is a good tool for those who are just beginning. I wanted the penpad not as an artist, but as a tool to create online lessons for math. This is perfect for me, since I use SnapPro to record video captures on my screen, and the penpad allows me more fluidity to create lessons. I am running Mac OS X 10.4.11. DO NOT INSTALL THE DRIVER, simply connect the penpad. I tried installing the driver on the CD, and then when that didn't work, I tried installing the driver from the website. I was about to give up hope when I decided to uninstall the driver and start all over. I uninstalled and then restarted while the USB was still connected, and behold! It worked, and I haven't had a problem with it connecting since. I have adobe photoshop, so I don't need their program to do any drawing. It does take some getting used to for hand eye coordination since I have to look at the screen to see what I'm writing, but overall I'm satisfied with this product, it does what it says it does.

Review by ForAllThereExists : Vistablet Review for handwriting
First I would like to say Vistablet's customer service/technical support is very helpful and polite. It's clear that they're a smaller company that cares.
For the product itself, I felt it was a durable and well made. I had it doubled quite nicely as a mouse pad for my logitech mx1100. The pen was uncomfortable for me and arguably the the feature that annoyed me the most. It was always rotating so I kept pressing the side buttons on accident. I was looking for a pen tablet that was highly accurate, but affordable since a lot of what I was using it for was to test handwriting recognition, but it simply got too frustrating. (That isn't entirely Vistablet's fault, since I haven't found software that learns/recognizes handwriting well enough). Though I didn't buy it for graphic design, I tried drawing with it and the sensitivity/pressure is great. Unless you need fine lines, I would imagine this product would suit the majority of people. I also don't like that if you hover the pen above the pad, without it touching the pad, the computer still recognizes it and moves the cursor (even if you change in your preferences to use it as a pen or mouse). Lastly, the picture is a little misleading, it doesn't have a glossy or glassy pad.
But those are the negatives. I honestly thought it was a well built product and it worked just fine. Hence 4/5 stars.
Though I wouldn't know how feasible it is for a smaller company, I would like to see a mid-range priced product. The Pen Pad is a great entry product, but after that, the price jumps to >$80.
Suggestion: If you have a larger monitor, go with a larger pad. If accuracy is very important to you, then the largest screen size I would suggest would be 13''.

Review by TheEpicMechanic : Was skeptical at first, loving it now
One of the best things about this is it isn't over 150 dollars like alot of other ones. Another is the fact that since it is flexible and small, it easily goes into a laptop bag. I've never used a drawing pad like this, but they were always too expensive. I really like using this drawing pad, it's sensitivity is just right, and it has a lot of extra cool features. I use it as a mouse half of the time, whether I'm drawing or not.
The only drawback I can see, is when you're trying to click on a photo tool box on the lefthand side in say, photoshop, there is a tool for the pen that is hiding on that side, and if you scroll just a little too much and mouse over that tool, it opens up a small writing pad that takes up about, 1/5th of the top of your computer screen, it allows you to write in something and it converts it to text. It's a nice feature, but does get in the way once in a while.
Other than that, this little pad is great. When using it like a mouse, each corner of the pad moves the mouse to the corner of your screen, so you never worry about having to pickup, and move your hand, then continue moving like you do with a mouse! I use it all the time and love it.

Review by Mr. Ocasio : Convenient, Comfortable, DOES work well!
People might tend to dismiss this tablet for drawing ditially or other uses because it is not a big brand name, but surprisingly enough it does work and very well.
It is flexible, and easily portable. It comes with its USB cable, pen and a digital drawing software that also works well for photos called Artweaver. It is basically a Photoshop 7 clone program that is quite good, and does allow to create almost any image you want, is more user friendly to the general public than Photoshop, has lots of filters, and you can download updates. The disk includes other software titles for those interested in creating documents using their own hadwritting.
The pen is not heavy, easy to write and handle, it comes with a AAA battery, which dosen't lasts too long so I'd recommend using alkaline batteries.
Overall is a very nice product that does what it promises without high price tags and without much complication installing.
Highly recommended.
